Eliot Smith Dance Auditions - Autumn 2026 Season - Professional Dancers and Apprentices
ESD 2026 Audition

Eliot Smith Dance (ESD) is seeking professional dancers and apprentices who identify as male or female to join the company for its Autumn 2026 season.

As ESD celebrates 15 years of creating unforgettable contemporary dance experiences, we are looking for exceptional artists to help shape the next chapter of the company's growth and innovation. We continue to build on our reputation as one of the North East of England's leading contemporary dance companies and are seeking dancers who are excited to contribute to our evolving creative vision.

The audition process will include a contemporary class, ESD repertoire, and an opportunity to work creatively in process with Founder and Creative Director Eliot Smith, Rehearsal Director and long-standing ESD dancer Yamit Salazar, respected ballet teacher Angela Reay, and members of the ESD Board.

ESD is keen to spend time with invited dancers, exploring potential working relationships that align with the company's creative direction, values, and evolving culture. We particularly welcome applications from dancers from Global Majority backgrounds, disabled dancers, dancers living or working in the North East of England, and members of the LGBTQ+ community who are interested in working within an open, supportive, and collaborative environment.

At ESD, we value long-term artistic relationships and are interested in building a community of dancers who can grow alongside the company. While engagement for the Autumn 2026 season will be project-based, we hope to identify artists with whom we can develop an ongoing working relationship, creating opportunities for future performances, creative projects, touring, and learning activities, subject to appraisal and company requirements.

As part of ESD's commitment to nurturing dance artists, successful applicants may also support our Education and Beyond programme by delivering repertoire workshops inspired by the company's work. There may also be opportunities to contribute to the company's developing social media strategy in collaboration with ESD. Relevant training and support will be provided where appropriate.
