Eliot Smith Dance (ESD) is a contemporary dance company founded by Eliot Smith in 2011, based in Amble, Northumberland, with an office at Dance City in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England. Since its inaugural performance in February 2011, ESD has grown into an organisation committed to artistic excellence, high-quality dance, innovation and accessibility for diverse communities.

 

ESD has performed extensively across the North of England and on international stages, including New York, Rome, Denmark and Paris. The company is recognised for its inclusive ethos and boundary-pushing choreography. Its repertoire blends compelling storytelling, world-class collaborations and works inspired by North East heritage, social and environmental themes.

MISSION

Promote high-quality contemporary dance including film, music, visual arts, and theatre to benefit the public, support social inclusion, raise awareness of North East England's culture, LGBT+ and environmental issues, and foster understanding across generations.
