Eliot Smith Dance (ESD) is a contemporary dance company founded by Eliot Smith in 2011 and based in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England. Since our inaugural performance in February 2011, ESD has grown into an organisation committed to high‑quality dance, innovation, and accessibility for diverse communities.

Operated from Newcastle’s Dance City, the company has performed extensively across the North of England and international stages including New York, Rome, Denmark, and Paris — and is recognised for its inclusive ethos and boundary-pushing choreography. Our repertoire blends compelling storytelling, world‑class collaborations, and works inspired by North East heritage, social and environmental themes.

MISSION

Promote high-quality contemporary dance including film, music, visual arts, and theatre to benefit the public, support social inclusion, raise awareness of North East England's culture, LGBT+ and environmental issues, and foster understanding across generations.
