Portraits of Courage is a historical informative dance work which is inspired by the genius and courage of various heroisms including: William Armstrong, George Stephenson, Grace Darling, Emily Wilding Davison John Curry, Oscar Romero and Lancelot 'Capability' Brown.
Courage is defined as bravery, braveness, courageousness, pluck, pluckiness, valour, fearlessness, intrepidity, intrepidness, nerve, daring, audacity, boldness; doughtiness, stout-heartedness, hardihood, manfulness, heroism, gallantry; backbone, spine, spirit, spiritedness, mettle, determination and fortitude. This amply covers the Portraits in 'Portraits of Courage' and what they had in common can best be summarised by the suffragette motto, “Deeds Not Words”.
